Sail design by UK Sailmakers/Gothenburg

Carrying forward over 50 years of cruising experience, we have opted for a 87sq.m. hydrolic inmast furling mainsail with short vertical battens and 106% working jib with short furling horizontal battens. To accomodate heavy weather, a hard wind jib will be set on a mobile inner forestay with one line of reefing pennants. This combination enables us to furl the 70sq.m. jib by 30% when the 42sq.m.hard wind jib will then take over which can also be reefed to 29sq.m. without loosing shape.

Off the wind and up to 15 kn. we will set a 225sq.m. asymetric spinnaker captured by a snuffer. Above this, we will run up a twin jib on the double grooved foil on a single halyard. The 140sq.m. of sails are boomed out at right angles by seperate whisker poles secured by fore and aft guys plus boom lifts. The following wind is directed by the mainsail into the weather jib which is then re-directed into the leeward jib. Each sail has its independent set of sheets. When reverting back to a reach one simple lets the weather jib fly across to leeward when the sails set together without wear. One person can handle the Simbo Rig (simple bow rig) without leaving the cockpit other of course, than setting the whisker poles.
