Rig

Seldén rig
Keel stepped mast with fractional rig including lower shrouds and three pairs of spreaders
Removable inner fore stay with adjuster and running backstays
Mast and boom in silver anodized aluminium profile

Sails

UK sails
Najad ‘original’ sails are high quality, laminated, tri-radial cut, made of Pentex/Mylar cloth
The fully battened mainsail is fitted with Seldén MDS sliding car system, sail number, battens, two reef points, telltales, red sail cover and sail bag
The Working Jib is delivered with telltales and sail bag

Deck

1 x Genoa sheet track system with ball bearing cars, manoeuvred by trim lines, led to 2 x line clutches located just outside the cockpit for easy access

Anchor System

Lofrans windlass and Delta anchor
Lofrans Electric windlass (1500W), deck mounted, with removable hand control. In the drained anchor locker a large shelf is installed on top of the anchor chain to provide stowage.

40 m, 10 mm chain and anchor swivel between anchor and chain
The bow fitting is designed with “NAJAD” logo, twin bow rollers and fitting for optional gennaker

Deck Stowage

There are two large stowage lockers on the aft deck
A stowage locker is located at the transom
Anchor locker located in the bow

Deck Equipment

Cockpit

There is a spacious cockpit with large chart table, high gloss varnished, equipped with integrated curved fiddle grab rails, behind the windscreen. In this area there is also space for additional instrumentation and speakers
The solid sliding entrance hatch is made of high gloss varnished teak as well as the wash board which is conveniently stored in a bag inside the cockpit locker
Seats and upper cockpit coamings are covered with seamed solid teak, unvarnished.

There is a varnished foldable cockpit table, to enable easy passageway during sailing, with drop-down leafs on each side.
There are plenty of stowage, for regular daily use in the cockpit, including a large locker to starboard, flush pockets recessed into the coamings on both sides
Steering pedestal with wooden top part including engine control, illuminated compass, stainless steal grab rail and space for additional instruments
The stainless steel steering wheel and parts of the spokes are covered with elk leather. The wheel can be stopped by an adjustable friction brake
The sprayhood provides a completely protected area at the forward end of the cockpit and with the optional extension the entire cockpit can be covered. The sprayhood has windows in the front section and is fixed to a stainless steel frame, which folds forward towards the stainless steel windscreen frame. In order to make a splash proof joint the sprayhood is fitted in a groove, on the top edge of the windscreen frame
The sprayhood provides a completely protected area at the forward end of the cockpit and with the optional extension the entire cockpit can be covered. The sprayhood has windows in the front section and is fixed to a stainless steel frame, which folds into a dedicated “sprayhood recess” behind the cockpit. In order to make a splash proof joint the sprayhood is fitted in a groove, on the top edge of the windscreen frame
For safety reasons a manual bilge pump is fitted and can be operated from the cockpit with all hatches closed. Cockpit self-bailers and drains from the seats are installed

Interior

General

The interior is made of a first class quality and hand crafted out of selected and unstained African mahogany, all hand polished and varnished to a satin finish
Classic white mast bulkhead
Interior details are made of brass
The flooring is made of varnished yaya plywood with wenge inlay
There are inspection hatches for the bilge and transducers
Hatches in floor boards, for easy access to stowage areas
The headlining is of off white covered panels

Saloon

In the saloon there is plenty of space for the whole crew to be together for meals and room for enjoying a good social life on board
Ample book shelves and cupboards
Ample overhead lights are provided with reading lights at each berth and in saloon
The companionway stairs has curved teak steps that are purposely left unvarnished for good foot hold, and even have caulked strips on the front edge for safe entry to the salon. The mahogany handrails provide good hand hold from top to bottom and are a great contrast to the white painted stair sides
Grab rail on the starboard side of the ceiling
There are two opening skylight in the saloon ceiling
A large table with stowage inside table pedestal
The mast is covered with white painted wood

Galley

The galley is located amidships on port side
The galley work top is made of an extremely durable laminate with stainless steel twin sinks and a chopping board, which fits over one of the sinks
A fully pressurized system for hot and cold fresh water includes a luxury single lever tap
The cooker is a Force 10, twin burner gimballed gas cooker with oven and grill. The gas pipes are fixed cupper pipes and a remote controlled shut-off valve between cooker and gas bottle is located in the galley area. A manual gas valve is fitted underneath the stove
Two well-insulated refrigerators with doors and sliding boxes providing 130L in total. Water cold compressors. Optional 40L freezer behind the sink
There are large additional stowage areas for groceries and other food items
The cupboards are equipped with fiddles for plates, cups and glasses and there is a cupboard under the cooker for pans and cutlery

Navigation Area

The navigation area is situated on the starboard side and conveniently close to the companionway
There is a chart table with drawers and stowage for charts and an adjustable reading light. Space is available for individual instrumentation and modern navigation equipment
The switchboard is equipped with circuit breakers and semi-automatic fuses and can be prepared for additional circuits. There is also 1x 230V and 1x 12V outlets located in this area

Aft Cabin with Separate Head

A passageway on the port leads to the aft cabin, including a wide double berth amidships and sufficient stowage for extended periods at sea

The bed base is un-varnished and ventilated with holes to minimise dampness

There are two heads with shower. Built with white laminated bulkheads including wash basin, bench surface and shower floor made of Corian material
The toilets are manually operated
Electrical drain pumps for the showers
A mirror is provided in each head
The hot and cold pressurized water system is operated by a single lever tap in the shower and at the wash basin

Soft Furnishing

Saloon settee cushions: Approx. 125 mm foam thickness with raised forward edge, covered with specially selected fabrics
Berths: Approx. 150 mm foam thickness, covered with neutral mattress.
Curtains: Specially selected fabrics. Flameproof BS 5852

Ventilation

Opening skylights in saloon, aft- and forward cabins and forward heads
Opening portlights in saloon, aft cabin, aft heads and galley

Ventilation louvers in the companionway hatch

Hull, Deck, Keel & Rudder

Hull

Vacuum infused hull in sandwich construction including multi-axial E-glass maths, vinylester resin and divinycell core material. The surface layer is gelcoat
Below the water line the hull is treated with 2x layers of epoxy primer and antifouling paint. The inside of the hull is top coated
Hull color is white, with carmine red water lines and hull trim line
The hull is reinforced with longitudinal and transverse floor plate construction, which supports the keel fittings, mast, engine frame, tanks and cabin soles
There are additional longitudinal reinforcements in the hull, stringers, for maximum hull strength
All main bulkheads and stringers are laminated on both sides to the hull
Reinforced single laminate (no core) is used in high stress/important areas such floor construction, engine bed and through hull fittings
The toe rail is protected with stainless steel capping

Deck

Vacuum infused deck and coach roof in sandwich construction including multi-axial maths, vinylester outer skin, divinycell core material and polyester inner skin
Deck color is white with carmine red trim line
Hull and deck are bolted and glued together

Keel

The led keel with is bolted on with acid resistant stainless steel bolts 

Rudder & Steering System

A semi balanced, skeg hang rudder with self aligning bearings and alloyed aluminium rudder post. Rudder fitting made of acid resistance stainless steal is bolted to the skeg
The steering system is a rotating torque tubes system
Emergency steering is on the rudder post and operated by a tiller

Technical Systems

Engine

The NAJAD 460-Afrodite is powered by a Yanmar engine, a four cylinder marine diesel producing 81 kW (110 hp), a propeller shaft with a 3-blade folding propeller.
A single lever throttle and engine instrument panel is mounted on the pedestal
The engine is suspended on four rubber mounts and an Aqua drive, a flexible shaft connection including thrust bearing, is installed for effective vibration damping
Wet exhaust pipe with swan neck and effective rubber silencer is used
The engine is located inside a very well sound-proof and insulated engine room with access from a door on port side and from the companionway. The engine components are easily accessible for servicing

Tanks

All tanks are made of acid resistant stainless steel and are fitted with inspection hatches and level gauges
Water and fuel tank meters are conveniently positioned on the switchboard at the navigation station
The holding tanks have an indication lamp showing 75% capacity. These tanks can be evacuation ashore via a deck fitting or drained at sea (gravity fed). All hoses connected to the holding tanks are gas tight and mounted with twin hose clamps
The fuel tank delivers with suction pipe, installed to the bottom of the tanks, to provide possibility to evacuate dirt and condensation. For this purpose a separate manual evacuation pump is provided. The reinforced hoses have twin clips in stainless steel
The fuel is filtered through an in line microbe filter and separate fuel pre filter before entering the engine fuel filter

Electrical System

Mastervolt
The domestic system voltage is 24V including 4x batteries (140A/12V), connected in series two by two, providing a total capacity of (24V/290Ah). 12V equipment runs from domestic battery system via a DC/DC transformer (24V/12V)
The engine start battery (115Ah) is charged by a separate 12V/80A alternator
Electric power is supplied to domestic batteries by a separate main engine alternator (24V/65A) or via a battery charger (230V/24V/50A) connected to shore power
Shore power system (230V/50Hz) includes an efficient isolating transformer (230V/4kW), 20 m shore cable and 5x 220V outlets inside the boat
There are two separate main switches for domestic and starting system together with well dimensioned electrical cables, mostly run in conduits for extra safety
At the navigation station following equipment is located: A flush mounted main switch panel with circuit breakers, including fuses of semi-automatic circuit breaker type, DC/AC monitoring system, control panel for the battery charger
