News » An Epic Journey - Najad 460 'Baros'

Wolfgang Barkemeyer has returned from his single-handed circumnavigation of the world aboard his Najad 460 'Baros'.

We are pleased to announce that Wolfgang Barkemeyer has returned from his astounding single-handed circumnavigation of the globe that he started in June 2007 in Germany.

His route:

Channel Islands » Biscay » Atlantic Coast » Portugal » Madeira » Canaries » Cap Verde » Caribbean » Columbia » Panama » Galapagos » Marquesas » Tuamotus » Tonga » New Zealand » Tasman Sea » Sydney » Great Barrier Reef »Timor » Bali »  Christmas Island » Cocos Keeling » Rodrigues » Mauritius » Reunion » South Africa » Namibia » St.Helena »Azores » English Channel » Fehmarn.

'Baros' was set up for one-handed blue water sailing and proved to be a reliable, practical and comfortable vessel throughout the 33,000 mile long journey around the world. In the coming months Wolfgang will be collating his pictures and condensing his log book into a travelogue - parts of which we can hopefully feature here on the Najad website.

Our sincere congratulations to Wolfgang - a fantastic achievement.
