The quintessential British harbour provided the superb back drop from the Royal Dart Yacht Club on a bright mid summers evening for the group to meet and spend an enjoyable evening talking about boats voyages and anything else that might crop up – most of the owners had sailed to the venue and so the brisk North east wind proved a popular topic
The Yacht club provided an enormous amount of excellent food at the buffet and topped off with delicious fresh strawberries and Devon clotted cream!
With such wonderful weather, our group were able to enjoy drinks on the deck of the Najad 570 “Pink Cloud” where Robert and Joyce had excelled in making us all welcome with drinks and nibbles to say nothing of a artistic arrangement of fruit that set the saloon off beautifully.
Whilst some of us had sailed to the event by car it was great to see how many yachts were there – we had around 18 to 20 people , which meant we were able to meet and talk with everyone and exchange ideas and stories.
It was a great evening spent with good company – there is already talk of having the next East Coast event on the other side of the River Orwell, at Suffolk Yacht Harbour, about two miles away by boat – mind you at that rate, it will take a good number of years to travel around the 2000 miles of UK coast line!
This is a voyage that Richard and Mary Connelly have just completed on their 380. They started in the Spring and have just completed the trip – they would highly recommend it and found the 380 the perfect size for the trip.
More details will follow, but try to come along as it’s an enjoyable evening!
